Inception

This is a hard review to write, for if you have not seen it, it is hard to convey how great the movie is without giving things away. But I will attempt!! Overall, I really liked this movie. It was smart, it had many layers to it and it made its audience think. It expects you to keep up with the plot, to have taken in everything you are being told and to continue at its high pace. I love movies that expect it audience to have a brain, it`s refreshing!!

The story centers on Dom Cobb(Leonardo Dicaprio), a specialist in extracting valuable secrets from people`s minds when they are most vulnerable, when they are asleep. Due to his special skills, he is a wanted fugitive for a mysterious crime, but also highly sought after in a world where extraction is the new corporate espionage. We meet up with Cobb when he is offered “one last job”, where he might find redemption and could wind up no longer on the run from the authorities. Unfortunately it`s also the most complicated job he has ever done, where he has to implant in idea in someone`s head, rather than extract it.

And that is the most you will get from me! Ok, let`s talk basics. The story–it`s intricate, it throws a lot of information at you and if you are ready, it`s going to blow your mind! Some people will have a hard time with the concept of the dream world and reality, the way the movie does it. So be prepared to pay attention when you watch the film! But if you do, the story will reward you!

Action–it is fierce! But the movie is directed by Christopher Nolan, who worked on the two latest Batman films, so he has a good eye for action scenes. There is one specific scene with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the hotel, which blew my mind. I do not know how they filmed it but it was intricate, fast-paced and it kept me on the edge of my seat! Overall, the movie is filled with action and sometimes I felt like it was a bit much, and although the movie had a good explanation for having so much, I felt that there could have been less action and more time spent on the story.

Overall, I really liked the film. I felt there were a few inconsistencies between what is explained in the plot and what occurs in the dream world, but there was so much effort put into making the movie innovative, smart and fun to watch, that these plot holes I am hoping will be dealt with on the DVD special features OR we will have extra scenes in the movie when it gets released.

Lastly, I would say that this movie should be seen on the big screen due to its beautiful dreamscapes and all the action sequences. This isn`t your typical drama or action film. Your eyes deserve the treat of the big screen.
